What is Tracking?

Environmental health tracking—or surveillance—is the continuous, systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of environemental and health-related data needed for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of environmental public health practice.

CEHTP currently tracks environmental and health data, such as: 

  • Health: asthma, birth defects, cancer, heart attacks, and birth outcomes
  • Exposures: carbon monoxide, heat,  and lead poisoning
  • Hazards: air quality, drinking water, and pesticides
