Mercury in Fish Fact Sheet

Fish are nutritious for you and your family. But some fish contain a harmful chemical called mercury. Women ages18-45, especially those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and children ages 1-17 should be selective about the types of fish they eat and avoid fish that are high in mercury.  “Mercury in Fish” is a two-page fact sheet that provides guidelines on the types and amount of fish that are safe for women and children to eat.  The fact sheet also provides information about the health benefits of eating fish.  Use links below to access a printable (pdf) version of the fact sheet in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
