Survey and Educational Activity in the Lower Sacramento River Watershed
09/2005 - 12/2006

The goal of this project is to characterize fish consumption patterns and implement an educational activity to reduce exposure to mercury in a high-risk population.  The project will be conducted in collaboration with a community-based group serving a high fish-consuming population or a perinatal clinic based in Sacramento or Yolo county.  The partner organization will help EHIB to implement the survey (e.g., through providing access to community members, translation services, and so forth) and will also develop an educational activity aimed at increasing awareness of fish contamination issues and encouraging actions to reduce exposure.  EHIB will provide technical support and a stipend for the partner organization.  The project will be conducted in consultation with the Delta Tributaries Mercury Council, which is funding the project.
