Prenatal Smoking and Daughter’s Age at Menarche
10/2005 -

This project examines whether maternal smoking during pregnancy is related to offspring reproductive maturation (e.g. pubertal development), as a follow-up and expansion of our previous study. Puberty is measured by daughter’s age at menarche and other predictors are also examined. Data was collected as part of the longitudinal, national Collaborative Perinatal Project (CPP) that followed 50,000 pregnancies during the 1960’s. Offspring were interviewed in a small sub-sample as adults. This sample includes a large proportion of Blacks.
