Childhood Asthma Coalition in Mendocino County

California Breathing, in partnership with the Regional Asthma Management and Prevention Initiative (RAMP) and the Mendocino County Public Health Department, is working to promote a new asthma coalition with the capacity to help reduce environmental asthma triggers, especially those affecting children in Mendocino County. 

Funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this project will:
(1)  Provide at least one structured training and technical assistance session on building an asthma coalition;
(2)  Provide at least one workshop for the coalition and members of the community on  indoor air quality in schools;
(3)  Provide at least one workshop for the coalition on reducing children’s exposure to outdoor air pollutants. This will include education on outdoor air quality and key issues such as school bus idling and wood burning stoves;
(4)  Provide at least one training to the coalition and community members on asthma triggers in the home.
